Helping entrepreneurs start up new business ventures or expand into new markets is an exciting challenge. And it’s one RLA is proud to have delivered across a wide range of marketing collateral for Invest NI. Invest NI is responsible for growing the economy of Northern Ireland both within the province and by attracting new inward investment. Part of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Invest NI delivers the Government’s economic development strategies, offering expert advice and supportive business development programmes to companies, in particular those in the manufacturing and tradable services sectors.

Delivering a competitive edge

Working closely with the Invest NI marketing team, we were responsible for providing the full mix of design and promotional services to enable Invest NI to deliver its promotional initiatives. These promotional ‘Business to Business’ services were designed to communicate with its 2,500 clients and deliver the following:

  • Improve understanding of Invest NI’s role and remit amongst key audiences
  • Provide information to businesses about the range of Invest NI Business Development programmes
  • Persuade client companies to participate in these programmes by conveying benefits through strong communication
  • Promote Northern Ireland companies in key industry sector fields such as: Life Sciences and Creative, ITC, Tradable Services, Transport, Construction, Tourism, Engineering and Business Services and Food

When communicating with Invest NI client companies, it is necessary to inform but also to incentivise and motivate them to get involved in Invest NI business development programmes, with a view to giving their business a competitive edge – both locally and in the international arena.  In all communications, it is also vital to maintain and enhance Invest NI’s corporate identity and image.

Developing solutions across multiple platforms

The nature of the Invest NI account meant we were responsible for delivering multiple projects from different departments, many of which run concurrently and all with their own specific internal ‘project owner’. Not only does this present its own challenges in terms of the breadth and scope of projects worked on, it also meant that our Design Studio and Client Service Departments had to deliver to the highest standard each and every time.

So whether it was an EDM, DM pack, banner ad, website or above-the-line campaign, we delivered a wide range of communications, across a variety of industry sectors. One of our most successful projects was the planning and delivery of the first ‘NI Energy and Environment Conference’ – the largest renewable energy conference ever held in Northern Ireland. We were responsible for developing and producing the brand for the event, together with planning and executing a comprehensive communications plan. Invest NI’s target for the conference was a minimum of 700 registrants, with a minimum of 500 delegates attending the conference. Our design-led campaign delivered the following results:

  • 919 online registrants
  • Over 600 delegates attending the actual event
